Now, I know that "strong" is obviously one of the important factors to Mando cooking. There are many implications that heturam ("mouthburn") is another, as implied by the definition: "a sought-after state of intense burning in the ...

I was (finally) playing Bastion's Star Wars RPG again yesterday, and (hooray, finally!) got the chance to have my Zabrak Mando go back home so she could figure out why other Mandos kept looking at her funny in bars; oh, and on the way, ended up with an entourage of twelve black and red armored Mando escorts. At least one of them even had neat armor that changed to a more subtle green at the touch of a button! ...

Welcome to the Mandalorian sort-of offshoot of Tracyn's generic Star Wars name meaning thread! Started with me pondering just what, exactly, my name might mean if it really did mean anything, 'cause I was reading the Mandalorian Culture pages here. Ended up compiling this list:

Meh - if

dalyc - female

talyc - bloody, bloodstained; rare (as in steak)

ulyc - careful

balyc - also

tracinya - flame (tracyn-fire)

I'd probably go with talyc or ulyc if I had to choose one that was ...

Do you think the Mandalorians will be a playable CLASS? Perhaps race? Why?

ALSO, I'm not sure how I intend to play my Mando (if he isn't a class or race). Do I want to make him a Mando that doesn't acknowledge the Mand'alor, so he works for the Republic as a high-ranking Trooper? ...

In every story, be it canon or fan fiction, the mandalorian lifestyle has always been depicted as harsh, dangerous. But in some of these stories the mandalorian protagonist also sometimes enjoys a happy life, and in certain cases even settles down and has a "family".

Here's the deal. As a fan/writer, how do you think mandalorians are commonly perceived as? (ie by the jedi-worshipers for example, or even by the regular star wars fan)

A friend of mine (who is now the proud owner of a shadow trooper costume ) sent me this video last night. It's trooper-heavy, but there are also Mandalorians (and Jedi and Sith), a badass fight, and rather well-done video and editing work. Also, DEFINITELY watch through past the credits, as there's a short bit afterward that alludes to a potential second film (that I can only hope they actually do!).

Do enjoy!

For example, I decided a few years back that if I want to start a family I would adopt instead of reproducing. This is mostly because I'm carrying a load of annoying genetic ancestry that I do not care to pass on. Secondly, there are way too many orphans in this world.

When I had thought about it for a while, I came to a conclusion for myself. I think Jaster Mereel did the most good for the Mandalorians by introducing the ethical system to their 3000 year degeneration to simple grunts. It made sure the next generations would be ethical once more.

Just wondering does anyone know the origin of boba’s kill stripes on his helmet? Is it Lucas lore or has it come form some fan fiction?

Why I ask is 18 kills not that much for the most feared bounty hunter in the galaxy

My theory goes back to WWII and the service stripes worn on uniform sleeves, one red stripe equalled one years full active service, one white stripe equalled one year non active service

Any ideas?

Post highlights:

Boba Fett discrepancies between Old Trilogy and Now

The Open Seasons comic book

Why my friend Matt and I should be Lucas's EU liaisons

This is a re-hash of a conversation I had with my buddy Matt, who loves the Star Wars. Boba Fett has been his favorite character since he came out of the womb. Naturally, when the new trilogy came out and we find out that Boba Fett is a clone, the character's background was altered.

So everyone's ...

I think I'm not the only one who needs to discuss some Mando-related facts BEFORE starting to write a fanfic or to draw a piece of fanart, but let me be the first.

1. It was said in KOTOR that after the defeat in Mandalorian wars the Basilisk droids were taken from the Mandalorians. Does anybody know what exactly happened to the Basilisks? Were they destroyed, used, stored in some places? I've read that Xisor's (do I spell him right?..) Virago was somehow related to the basilisk-type spacecraft, ...

Daennika and I were joking around one time, and we decided that it would be awesome if one of my Mandalorian characters became a rock star. I mean, it's not very plausible considering his upbringing, but I like the idea of a rebellious Mandalorian!

So while we would absolutely LOVE to be adopted/taken into the Mando culture, how many Mando kids do you think rebel and go do their own thing? "The grass is always greener," right? And then, what would they DO? Become hairdressers? Business ...

Just like hardcore Star Trek fans, we now have our own Klingonese and it's the Mandalorian language that Karen Traviss helped develop from the "Dha Werda Verda" song in the video game's soundtrack Republic Commando.

It sounds horrible, maybe pretty at times, other times a little too close to certain Norse or Gaelic dialects to be really considered alien enough to be Star Wars... Mando'a is used a lot in Traviss's published works and most of us have at least read a few words here ...
