| Just out of curiosity, which do you prefer- traditional Mando armour or modified armour? Modified armour being something that's still recognizable as Mandalorian, but with different shoulders or extra pieces, etc. Explain your preference! Although I think both can be done very well, I like modified armour better. It's a bit odd for an entire culture of people from different backgrounds and species to wear identical armour. Even if that similarity was used as a type of cultural connection, it seems that distinguishing between Mandalorians just by the colours of their armour could get a tad confusing. Plus, I love designing weird armour, so incorporating that into traditional Mando armour styles is fun. | |

| For me, it's modified, of course!
My first set of armor evolved over the past couple years, and I went from standard chest plates, to what I call my "Scales" variant. It's simply three pentagons 'scaled' (or segmented, I've heard it called) down my chest. The collar piece was also modified slightly.
The first link in my signature shows pictures of my "scales."
My second set of armor was modified regular chest plates to be shorter and then merged into one piece. The ab plate is also modified. The second link in my signature shows picture of this.

| Definitely modified. Gives more of a sense of individuality, and I have a habit of liking to stand out a bit from the rest. | |

| Nothing stirs the blood for me more than a standard suit of beskar'gam, the hallmark of a mandalorian warrior. It's an icon as readily recognized as our signature 'T' visor. | |

| While I like the functionality of the traditional armor, I like mine modded. Yes beskar'gam is intimidating to the aurtiise, but add spikes, or smaller possibly even non-existent openings, and large claw like gaunts.... | |

You just said that 'cause I want 'em and you like to taunt me. As for me, I...have no idea. I love that Mandalorians have no problems with making their armor unique however they feel like (any colors or styles acceptable, or damn near close to!), and still manage to be recognizable for who and what they are. But, I also love the general look of the armor, and find it rather aesthetically pleasing, despite knowing jack squat about armor. ^_^'

| Well, all Mandalorian armour is customised to some degree, so that's my default answer. | |

| Looking at it from a in-galaxy perspective, beskar'gam is a highly expensive resource that, I believe, most mandalorians cannot afford (at least not for a complete set). Thus it would be necessary for a few pieces of armor to be customized to make up for their lack in the areas that beskar would cover.
Modifications would be necessary. (Not to mention that every armor set belonging to a Mandalorian is probably going to be modified over the years to fit the mando's personality/expertise/job choices/etc).
Ie. Mandalorian.... Medics / Engineers / Demolitions / Recon The list goes on, and each set would differ somewhat from the other.
Buuut what do I prefer? I prefer modified. The baseline style is pretty terrifying on its own, but when you get a few more intimidating modifications along... You can imagine.

I always see the Mandie armour as being more like our own daily wardrobe, like when you get tired of your grey pants you switch out for blue ones. Tired of your baseline middle green armour you got from your smith? Get a new coat of colour!

| Personally I prefer the standard armour but with some variations, so I guess that means I am in favour of customs, aslong as they aren't too heavily modified

| Well I like it when the armor itself isn't customized, but rather they change what they take along with it. Kamas, capes, bandoleers, ect. Thats how I like it, a standard armor with looks customized by what they wear on top. Like my mando has typical armor but wears a coat and chest holster for example. | |

| Certainly, customized is the way to go. Aside from serving different purposes for different Mandos, as noted previously, you armor is a reflection of you, and in some cases what you spend the most time in. Custom all the way! | |

| I would definitely go with the modified look, all you really have to keep is the classic mandalorian helmet, probably even just the T visor.
If you look at if from a tactical standpoint you would have different kinds of armor for different missions. Some suits may have more plates for heavy combat or less plates for infiltration or recon. I can say that the jetpack would definitely vary from person to person, I would go for a backpack or small portable hacker droid.

The logic there is, as a recon unit, you have to move over long distances, most likely without an immediate extraction route and probably a very quick insertion. Hauling a lot of gear would wear you out pretty quickly. Of course, it is possible to recon in heavy armor, assuming one has the stamina to drag it around for long periods of time.

I so need to actually post instead of just raid the sexbox. Started thinking more about armor....mostly cuz I'm determined to destroy an old volkswagon...or cheap trash can. First set will be modest, traditional. Nothing super fancy, although I do want to incorporate several working elements...only a few hazardous. But after that, I think I'd like to make my heavy armor. Walking tank thing really. Although I prefer Immediate and Gratuitous Urban Renewal Specialist. I can see it in mah head but we'll see how it works out when it's all done....hopefully I won't need to take lots of engineering classes or anything...but I can put a computer together and it doesn't explode often so....

| I can help you with that one. i've taken a welding class or two in my effort to be a well balanced person. (Ultimately i think i failed in that area, but i'm at least reasonably well versed in many subjects) and tearing an old volkswagon apart sounds fun. | |
