| How does one differentiate between the two, besides obvious age difference? They don't have hair, so they can't have the little braid. It shames me to say (to some extent), but this seems to be crucial information to me. Even if nobody oggling my picture (which is still in the works) would actually know the importance, I care, and must know! Is there any difference at all? Maybe something with their head gear...they seem fond of headband-thingers with cone-ear holes in them. *snerk* Hair extensions, maybe? | |

| You could try making a braid of beads from whatever headgear they're wearing. That's what Ahsoka Tano does, since Togrutas also do not have hair.
Most padawans also wear rather simpler looking clothes, and the age difference is somewhat obvious. I noticed that Jedi Masters tend to wear longer robes or more elaborate clothing.

| I tend to think that the Jedi dressing code and standards are quite humanocentric as well.
Ahsoka's "braids" are actually part of the headdress she earned as a trophy for killing a really big monster on her home planet.
The braid is really just there as a tell for Humans because it's sometimes difficult to makes the difference between a young adult and an adult. *shrug*

| When Jedi are older they usually get more in touch with their roots. They adapt traditional clothing into their wardrobe. Apparently that's why Aayla runs around in what she runs around in.
Other than clothes I don't think there's much of a difference between children. Maybe the length of the Lekku. It seems like most tailheaded children have shorter lekku than adults. Oh and eye and head size, but that kind of goes with most races.

| AFTER MUCH DELIBERATION!!!!!!!!
I would imagine it would be the robes. Many padawans do not wear the formal over robe until knighthood, or unless they are on an important mission. I can't find many instances for reference, but in the Star Wars Galaxy game, apprentices get certain robes. You can add a cloak to them, but the robes identify a character as an apprentice or a something else.
If that doesn't help they're usually the angsty one of the group if that helps. Just listen for the whining.

| I think the robes are probably a good indication of being a padawan, since Aayla is all eccentric with her body-tight top and pants. I would assume padawans would have the more classic robe maybe with less flash as opposed to other Jedi knights/masters.
But then again Ahsoka runs around in a tube top...
hmmmm.... the debate rages on?

| Maybe it's a mix of everything, all down to personal preference and the discretion of the master/padawan duo? | |
