| Yeah, I've been still watching Clone Wars. Don't know why, though. Nothing's been of any quality since "The Deserter."
I absolutely *hated* the Zillo beast storyline. (Prepare for rant...) I'm not a Godzilla fan, but I nearly cried when they killed the poor thing in the episode last night. I can't stand animals/beasts being injured or killed, and that was just tragically wrong...I don't care if it was a cartoon show. I *HATE* any storyline where the main concept is to hurt/kill animals/beasts. I saw the Zillo's death coming the entire episode, and I should have just shut the TV off to save me the heartache. I started tearing up just when they lifted its scale to its draw blood. Senseless torture of animals. There was absolutely *NO NEED* to make an episode like that. I hope Lucas & Filoni see how this episode angered one of their fans. Did they *really* think their episode was going to show that animal torture/death is wrong and that someone would *REALLY* learn a lesson from a cartoon episode?!?!?! Seriously?!? I doubt anyone would pick up on the moral the way they portrayed that in this storyline. It was far too glossed over and the bad guy got away with it. Disrespectful. (Okay, Zillo rant over...)
The episode with the senators' murders was lame, too. Not ONE clone in the whole thing!!
The remake of the Seven Samurai episode was pretty okay. At least the bounty hunters were decent. I especially liked the guy with the helmet that he used as a weapon (his name eludes me right now).
I'm hoping the season will end on a upnote with the Boba Fett episode. I'm really disappointed this season. When it comes out on DVD, I'd only buy it for "The Deserter."

| Woah, MMJ from what you write I'm pretty sure I won't go back and catch up on this season. I stopped watching right after the Satine/Obi-Wan romance... Not sure Lucas/Filoni pay great attention to how the show is being received, or maybe the vast majority of fans is eating it up, picking the metaphorical marshmellows out of the dull cornflakes.
TCW used to get me aggravated but now I just feel sad about what's becoming of the franchise. Sure kids like SW now but aren't they smart enough to be able to understand plots such as the ones in the classic films? Do they really need dumbed down dialogs and CGI effects to keep their attention, or has the "ADD" spread so much that everybody sunk down to remedial entertainment?
/rant over
I too disapprove showing the torture of animals, even if it's educational or used as a moral. And, if you really just want to keep the "Deserter" episode then you can watch it online, download it. But please don't buy the entire season DVD, it's stupid to spend money in something you don't like.

| you can buy single episodes on iTunes.
I hope to god that in the season finaly that Boba doesnt come off as some whiney spoiled brat, spending daddies money to get even with the Jedi. On the other hand I hope they dont show him as some cut throat BAMF as a 10 year old...
I guess I'd rather no young Boba at all, not till hes a teenager and able to do something on his own.

| from the priviews boba looks like a BA. Idk i love TCW some episodes im like "wtf where they thinking" then others I love it. oh well. The new Generation of Star wars Fans will grow up with this and there will be a divison between the older fans and the newer ones. its like that with any series. but we all love the SW universe that will bring us all together /end rant lol | |

Yeah, I know. I thought about just downloading it, but I'm one of those strange people who want to be assured high quality. I saw that DoseOrdo suggested buying the individual episode(s) on iTunes, and that's always an option, too. I just think it's sad that this season watching Clone Wars almost seemed like a chore. I should enjoy a show, not feel obligated to watch it simply because I'm *hoping* it will get better. Thank goodness I have Chuck and Castle on Mondays and Bones on Thursdays to make me forget this cartooned parody of what used to be Star Wars.

| Well we saw Boba... [spoiler] Well he single handedly bitched slapped a trooper, almost killed Mace Windu, destroyed a Cruiser and even got to show his mad shooting skills... But he's still seems like an angry kid with a "gray" kind of attitude which kinda... I don't know... just "meh".
Seeing the bounty hunters at the end of the episode in the slave 1 was pretty nice though. I wouldn't expect Boba to be alone and Aura Sing is rather Iconic when you think about it. Anyway, I enjoyed the episode but not as much as The Deserter or Rookies. What the Clone Wars needs to do is focus more on the sideline characters rather than the Jedi.
I noticed something though, whenever an episode is not ABOUT one of the main Episode 2-3 cast, it seems to be a better episode overall. Something to think about

| So I generally dislike (to put it lightly) the new CW series, so occasionally I nitpick certain details of the SW universe Lucas and co completely screw up on. So I was reading through the 501st legion page on wookiepedia here: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/501st_legionAnd found an interesting piece: The Jedi and the 501st rushed to the clones' homeworld and were able to prevent the Confederacy from stealing a sample of the clones' DNA, and Fives and Echo were promoted to the prestigious rank of ARC troopers for their valiant service in the campaignI did a double take, confused. 'ARC trooper' isn't a rank, it's an elite commando that was trained by Jango Fett personally. These guys aren't pulled out of the rank and file, they received special training way back when...so to be 'promoted' to ARC trooper is more like awarding somebody an honourary degree. Technically it grants nothing, except to say that one has done something really outstanding. But in our case here, well...these two have the rank, but not Fett's training. | |
