What are you all talking about? Last episode I watched was "Brain Invaders", episode 8... Still no mandos Last night (January 1) Cartoon Network in the USA put on a double-episode at 9 pm. We're pretty much all commenting on the second episode of this called, "The Deserter." Rex meets a clone who deserted a while ago from the army. That's all I'll say so I don't give away more than we all already have in the posts above. Maybe you can find it on cartoonnetwork.com. I know they sometimes streamline videos of the episodes.

They can't. The little Twi's weren't his kids...

| Or if you look at it from an in-world standpoint, they did say that it missed his heart, which would explain why he didn't die. They also had a field medic, and a place for Rex to post up in order to recuperate. He wasn't completely without injury, as he lost the use of his entire left arm for quite some time.
Also, Grievous is a coward, which would explain why he went with even a droid group that was low on power, instead of going it alone. If the battle doesn't favor him, he escapes. Or attempts to do so.

| Star wars feild meds are crazy advanced so its not hard to imagen that "bacta patch" thing healed him up with time.
for the droids, I figure he used them as fodder. If he was attacked he had a bit of a distraction if he needed to run, rather then being the only target/threat.
The only thing that bothered me was that the sniper zero'd in on his head, and had a clean sight for some time. I expected a bump, jerk , or fluke turn as the trigger was pulled... and it didnt come. To me he should have been shot right through the face mask... but for somereason it hit him in the chest, and even then not cleanly.

| well if the distance had been great enough and blasters suddenly magically had the properties of bullets (ala bullet drop) it would be entirely possible to have hit him in the chest, but the distance was a bit short even then -_-
And before Lucas got his hands on Grevious that cyborg sure was no coward. Like in the clone wars series, the good one mind you, he singlehandedly took on five jedi was it? and only retreated when he got attacked out of nowhere by a taskforce of ARC Troopers with close laat/i support! You wouldn't see him taking that sorta risk in the current series, no way no how. OH and a little inconsistency I noticed which they'll probably retcon as well: Grevious was given explanation for his hacking cough at the end of the clone wars animated where Mace basically crushed his chest into a mangled of metal and organs, yet the current series takes place prior to that and he still wheezes? I love how nobody pays attention to anything else.

| Well I got to say that I was very pleased with the overall character of General Grievous in these 2 episodes. Have you guys noticed how they kept the original voice actor from Revenge of the Sith? That was cool compared to how Anakin sounds NOTHING like Hayden Christensen and Obi-wan's voice is neither Ewan's nor Alec's, and the clones suddenly do not have the kiwi accent. Only problem as Ryler mentioned is the incoherent coughing and wheezing but that's part of his character as we remember him so I'll forgive Filoni for that.
So, nice change of pace with the story of the deserter, the show could really only improve from that and now they can put two feet in the "clones are people too" debate, which should have made KT very pleased (if she's still watching Star Wars). I liked the kids the most, they reminded me of Norns from the old "tamagochi" game called Creatures.

| Actually, there was a source that stated that Grievous's cough was due to his new body rejecting his organs...or the other way around. Either way, the cartoon done by Genndy Tartakovsky wasn't exactly...shall I dare say the word..."canon" in the eyes of Big ol' George.
And although blaster rounds aren't made of solid matter, take into account that Clone armor is made of durasteel, which does have some stopping power.

| Maybe the droid's weapon had a borked scope? It could appear through the lens that he had it over Rex's face but when the trigger was squeezed, it was actually further down. (Yes, I'm shooting in the dark here, pardon the pun. I'm also sure that the show's developers probably didn't put much thought into what people would think about the shot missing horribly despite there being no reason for it because it is a kid's show and they figured that as long as Rex lived, everyone would be happy.) | |

But obviously she's either dead or in hiding by the time episode IV comes rolling. (Where was she during ROTS?).

| I hope she goes Dark-side or something, but I'm doubting we'll get a good, definitive answer. Most likely the CW show will either leave it completely vague and up for interpretation, or will just end with them still Master and Padawan with no explanation at all. | |

Bahaha. That would be amazing. Retcon the retconning. Then we could have our Mando-lore (see what I did there?) back to almost normal! [Jk. I know that, even if they did retcon the retcon, things wouldn't go back to the original ways. But hey, a girl can dream, right?]

| While 'Deserter' was still pretty decent, I still think it's too cheesy. A few of the scenarios and 'acting' are just a little over the top. Kids show or not, they could safely step it up a bit. And is it just me, or does the announcer annoy anyone else? | |
