I did some research. The prhase where he leapt to his death: "Calhava bru'chun dralshye'ran", only the last word can be compared. Dralshy'a means stronger and brighter, which is very appropriate for a Death Watchman (LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE). It could mean, and this is pure speculation, something along the lines of "This sacrifice makes me stronger". Or something like that. The two beginning words aren't comparable to Mando'a, but at least they stuck to the rules (no Z, no F). A language that has been separated for 730 years from it's source gets scrambled. Real world example WARNING: Faroese is a language that has survived in the Faroe Islands between Iceland and Scotland. It can be understood by Icelanders with Danish knowledge, but is so different otherwise in it's pronunciation and grammar most Icelanders don't. And Iceland and Faroe Islands have been separated for about 700 years.
The Death Watchman's second line is (listened to it over and over on my *******) is "Sesulu se kad se darasuum kot", and the nearest Mando'a equivalent is "Susulur sa kad sa darasuum kot", meaning "Hear as sabre as eternal strength". I think this is supposed to mean something along the lines of "Heard as an eternally strong sabre", as in his terror act will be remembered and revered. Probably a poetic quote.
2. This is Lucas...
Personally, I think I could very well make this fit with Traviss' and other's work in my head. At least some of it, wouldn't want Jango to be considered an aruetii. :p
3) Does anyone else find it troubling that there is not a single alien species on Mandalore? And to add to it, that all Mandalorians have blue eyes, white skin and light hair? Is this the vision of the 3rd reich come to life? 1) Oh, so it is confirmed to be the same as on Concord Dawn? I was totally confused there. In that case, my reference to Arla Fett's "Mando'a-esque" language still stands. Thanks for the translations Grat; I definitely heard the "kad" in there myself, but most else was difficult to catch. 2) Something we discussed while watching it: if they made all of the farmland and hideouts and such from Traviss' works be held on Concordia or Concord Dawn rather than Mandalore, a lot of her pre-established stuff could still work, IMO. 3) There was a Rodian visible toward the end of the episode before Obi took off in the ship, I think, but he may have just been visiting or something... lol. But yeah, I noticed the distinct lack of aliens as well. Lame. - Shas Kal'Abra wrote:

The rock merely distracted him, then Obi-Wan proceded to pwn him with WTF?!-Fu. Yeah, I didn't say that the rock itself took him out. I said that it made it so that he was easily taken out. (Because he was distracted.)

| Well further looking into the bits I'd have to say that the armor's effectiveness still stands to a degree provided that the guy obi shot in the faceplate was the one that got nocked off by Visla who I think shot him in the unprotected neck. The Deathwatch seemed okay to me, but I can't get a taste for whatever mandalore became... yuck. | |

Just wanted to thank everyone who worked so hard on this question for their efforts! I knew someone would have the patience to figure it out. I only wish I had a better connection with Cartoon Network Friday night so that I could have heard it better. Once I saw how glitchy the episode was, I didn't bother to record it, and Cartoon Network didn't have it out on their streaming videos yet. Thanks once again for the effort!!! And, I saw the same kind of dedication to my second question about the armor. I thought about it a bit, and I think maybe I can stretch my imagination so that I can rationalize how Obi-Wan had experience with fighting Jango Fett. From that fight, he learned how and where to place an attack strategically so that it would avoid the armor plating and hit the unprotected sections of the body. Just a theory I can live with.

It's called force stun punch. When he punches and connects properly the person goes to sleep *nod* But you know what I can appreciate, the two "grunts" knocking Obiwan out. I smiled, I really did. The rest of the episode just kept me confused....

| also note that she says "a dialect they use", not labeling it as anyone's specific language. It could very well be Mando'a and the new Mandalorians are distancing themselves from their past, including its language.
Im not sure about translations until its officially transcribed and translated but I certainly heard kote at the end of his second line and a few kads and kadi, which felt familiar.

| Just watched tonight's episode of Clone Wars. (Can't help looking away from a train wreck...human nature. ) Not much Mandalorian-wise, but the episode had a few cute moments. Poor clones died as usual. Deathwatch seems to have a bigger part in next week's episode, which I will be taping so I can watch the opening ceremonies to the Winter Olympics. (Yay! Finally some women's hockey!!) | |

| This episode was overall average. The assassin probes were neat for about five minutes (and who doesn't like the Aliens references they've thrown in a few times?) but then it degenerated into the usual mass-firing droid boredom. Tal Merrik was by far the most interesting character this time around and his "sadistic villain choice" was masterfully played, the highlight of the episode. It's unfortunate that the writer whizzed it right down his leg with Anakin jumping in and cheapening the experience for all of us in the end. And like last time, the episode scores bonus points for its total absence of Ahsoka. | |

| So we finally got around to watching those two episodes just a bit ago, and there is one thing I have to add for the "beskar'gam": /SPOILER-ISHNotice that when Obi-Wan first enters the "mine," there are a crapton of jetpacks lined up and quite a few helmets on a counter that he glances around at. This seems to imply that their stuff is mass-produced, which is hard to do with proper beskar (with the proper alloy bein', y'know, scarce as hell) so they were probably using a (comparatively) crappy alloy to make it all. Same deal for the guy who talked to his wrist; mass-produced helmets and armor makes for pretty crappy quality (so there's probably a fair bit less circuitry inside the helmet than what we normally see making wrist-mounted long-range communication more of a necessity), in comparison to the completely personalized handed-down stuff we're used to. /END SPOILER-ISHOf course, I could be remembering certain facts wrong, which would make what I just said moot...but I think I remember proper, so I'm relatively certain that I have, indeed, made an adequate contribution to the conversation. | |

| Sorry about raising a dead thread, but I'm new. I remember way back in the west-end games Star Wars RPG. One of the sourcebooks refered to Boba Fett as "the last of the Mandalorians" I'm sure that's how George had always intended him to be. He was surprised that someone resurrected him from the sarlacc. Also from his certain point of view, if it doesn't have a lightsaber he doesn't like it. Visla was going to carry a beskad, but at the last minute george changed it and gave him a "dark saber" Totally lame. Ok there's my 2 cents | |

| Ah, I don't mind having a "black light saber" (Thing) so much. Mostly because one of my friend's kept arguing with me that "there no such thing", when he asked me what color lightsaber I would want. I'm a dork I know, -however now that you pointed it out that he changed it from bes'kad to saber does make me suspicious. | |

| I dont mind the saber so much, seeing as to how he says its was stolen from jedi. The way he introduced his saber shows it to be more of a trophy that simply came in handy at the moment. | |
